What a crazy school vacation week! I would have rather done something fun like Disney World..but that didn't happen, here is what did happen:
Our oldest son had his Cardiac Cath scheduled for Tuesday the 20th at Dartmouth Hitchcock over in Lebanon NH. For a little background on why he needed such a procedure....he was born with multiple heart defects and see's his cardiologist every year. When he saw Dr. F in March we were told that C needed to have a Cath done to check the pressures in his aortic valve and possibly have that valve ballooned to help relieve some of the pressure. So we decided to schedule it for the beginning of school vacation. So Monday we dropped the 2 younger kids off with Friends and headed to Lebanon ( about 2 hours) to stay at a hotel overnight since we have to be at the Hospital so early the next day. C and L-dub enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub while I watched my fav show DWTS. Tuesday morning we got up at 5 am and headed to the hospital we were greeted with a huge surprise, our Assistant Pastor and his wife were there to be with us for the morning! C was brought in and had an IV placed. After seeing a bunch of different Dr's etc they gave him some sleepy medicines and took him off to the Cath Lab. My parents arrived and waited with as and L's parents came a little later on. The procedure was done just before noon and he was brought up to the PICU. Our conversation with his cardiologist was emotional because of the awesome outcome. The Dr was able to reduce the pressure in C's valve from 95 down to 25 and with no leaks! There was s pretty high chance of having a leak after such a procedure..but he made it through with none! Praise GOD!! C had to lay flat in his bed for 6 hours with out moving so the site in his femoral artery could start to heal up. They kept him overnight and L and I were able to stay right with him in his room. He was discharged wednesday morning and we were home by noonish. He has had to take it easy the last couple days but is feeling great! He is limping around a bit but getting better everyday. We are so thankful for everyone's prayers and good thoughts. The LORD really took care of C this week and we are glad to have this behind us. Praise God!
