Grand Prix .....
Soooo close......Our Church had the A. Grand Prix this past saturday. We do 4 divisions. 3 groups of kids and the 4th is the teen/adult division. So Nurse at Night and I decided to enter cars in the 4th division and maybe stir things up a bit since usually only men are involved. With Hubby's grand prix expertise and my fine painting skills my "paisley power" car was created and raced. Well, I did pretty well. I got 3rd place for speed! I lost to Pastor and another guy whose daughters won every division!! Some of you who read this know him as "Wing Nut" or "Toodles" as I call him. Oh well. Winning isnt everything...but I did make 2 grown men awfully nervous about losing to a "lady". All in good fun!!

ELEVEN already??
Wow, Our oldest turns 11 today! HE had such a rough start in this world! I am so thankful that after his 2 surgeries in the first year, he has been very healthy for the past 10 years.
He ia a good kid. He is so much like me, quiet and sensitive. (Well i used to be more quiet as a kid) He has been taking guitar lessons and really does well with it. He plays Ode to Joy and Yankee Doodle pretty well. Anyway, we gave him his B-day gift a couple weeks ago....and he and Daddy have been "rocking" ever since (guitar hero world tour). His Bros and even Mom can be caught singing for them once and a while. All in good fun!!
Anyways....Happy Birthday # 1!!!

Ice storm '08
So we just got out power back this evening after a big icestorm that rolled through Thursday night and Friday.
It started thursday afternoon with Rain and freezing rain..the kind that coats the car handles in about 15 minutes. Thursday evening my boys dawned their snow clothes and headed out to slide on the ice...needless to say they were soaked when they came in! We went to bed and were awakened a couple times between midnight and 3 with the power going on and off , it went off for good around 3:30ish. I got up because I saw blinking lights out in the living room...it was #1 son finding a battery powered string of Christmas lights that I had in the window to use as his night light upstairs. I looked out the window and could tell the grass and trees were white..just not sure if snow or ice. I went back to bed and Hubby and I started joking about not being able to use our heated mattress pad..because of no power...we kept hearing loud thumps and bangs outside.....kind of like muffled gun shots ....it was trees and branches falling all around the house.......very eerie! I tossed and turned for a hour and then decided to try sleeping on the couch...I awoke again around 6:30 . #1 had come down to see if he had school....well we had no way of knowing so I had him lay on the couch with me and we listened to the trees falling until the others all woke up. When daylight hit we could see that everything was ice coated. Branches and trees had fallen everywhere...nothing damaging to our home or cars Thank the Lord! We spent all day just hanging out and listening to the radio on hubbys cell phone....friends called and invited over since they have a generator....thanks Burnsy! We ate dinner, took showers and got a TV fix. We left the boys there to sleep and went home to see if we had power yet..Nothing ! We threw an extra blanket on the bed and went to sleep, needless to say our noses were a bit cool in the AM (5o in the house) . Anyways just got power back around 6;30 tonight (saturday) Burnsy and Fam had come over with generator to help warm things up and help us get cleaned up and stuff and FLUSH the toliets! The power actually came on while we were on generator! YAhoo! The worst part of the 40 + hours with nopower is the lack of running water.......you need water for everything!!!!!!!!!!!! The saddest part of the whole thing was our Ladies tea was cancelled for today. good night!

This is our camper and our bro in laws camper after the monsoon that blew through!!! there was hail and everything ......notice the fridge on top of the cooler...it was sitting in the water until L dub noticed he was getting zapped so he decided he had better move it!!

the only movie goers.......
We decided to take the boys to the Movies last night for the 6:30 show..enough time to see the movie and be home in time for bed! ( and to see Jon and Kate plus 8 wedding renewal )
We had the whole theater to ourselves! We saw Madagascar 2.....it was hillarious! A must see.
The boys could talk a little , dance around to the songs and change seats when they felt like it!
We managed to eat one and a half large bags of popcorn between the 5 of us. (payed for that extra butter this morning!)
It was fun.......
